At Tulane, Family Weekend is part of Wave Weekend. Wave '24 Weekend is November 7-10, 2024! By combining Homecoming, Reunions and Family Weekend into one fun-filled celebration, Wave Weekend at Tulane is a time for ALL to revel in the special bond that makes us Tulanians. Thursday, November 7, 2024: You may want to arrive by late afternoon or early evening on Thursday to take full advantage of the Friday morning and early afternoon programming for families. The student-led Tidal Wave committee usually plans an outdoor concert on the Berger Family Lawn in the early evening. If you arrive early enough, you can go to the concert with your student before dinner.

Friday, November 8, 2024: The Office of Family Programs will offer some parent/family-specific programming during the day approximately 10 am – 5 pm while students are in class (presentations, open houses, a jazz brunch, concert, etc.) Your first stop will be Check-in for pre-registered attendees and on-site registration which usually opens at 9 a.m. and runs until late afternoon. Registration will open again on Saturday if you arrive in town after registration closes on Friday.

Saturday, November 9, 2024: Tulane’s Homecoming football game against Temple University will be on Saturday in Janet Yulman Stadium. The kick-off time won’t be announced until 10 - 14 days prior to the game date because it’s dependent on the conference and television broadcast schedule. Tailgating always starts 4 hours before kick-off. In previous years, if the game was in the late afternoon or evening, we had some special-interest presentations for parents/families on Saturday morning.

For the last couple of years, the Homecoming football single game tickets were sold online beginning in early June. That purchase time will be promoted by email and social media by Tulane Athletics when single ticket sales open. The Homecoming game has sold out the last couple of years, so watch for that message!

Keep in mind that Tulane students will be able to get their own tickets in the student section of the stadium with their Tulane ID as part of their athletics fee. You will not need to purchase a ticket for your student unless you want them to sit with you.

Fall 2024 football season tickets for the 6 home games--including Homecoming—are already on sale beginning at $99 per person for select sections.

Sunday, November 10, 2024: Family Programs usually keeps formal programming light on Sunday to allow families free time to do things on their own, and since most parents are traveling back home on Sunday at various times. Any formal programming offered usually ends around 12 – 1 pm.

If you are parent who is also an alumnus or alumna, the Office of Alumni Relations offers additional programming for alumni, including special activities for reunion year celebrants.

In 2023, there was a special event offered on Wednesday evening sponsored the New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane. If any additional special events are added before the Friday of the weekend, they will be promoted in subsequent email messages.
